Host a workshop! - A wonderful way to build a yurt.
Gather your friends and family to help raise your yurt. Together, we will weave all of our stories into the tapestry that will become your yurt. I often have a list of interested folks that are eager to help lend a hand as well. Usually a group of 8 - 12 people is a good size. Smaller yurts, like the yurt sauna, can make do with a smaller crew. No prior experience is necessary - a willingness to learn is the most important. I have a preference for using hand tools as much as makes sense with power tool use when needed.
The design and the materials list are provided and I am on-site for the duration of the workshop. The host coordinates the delivery of materials and necessary site prep, food, and lodging (often camping) for the crew.
The main goal of the Yurt Raising Workshop is to assemble the bulk of the structure. The host will need to complete finishing afterwards.
The size of the yurt determines the length of the workshop - bigger yurts take longer. For example, a 24' standard yurt (315 sq ft) will typically take two weeks to get the yurt up and roof on.

Participate in a workshop!
ether you're thinking about building your own yurt in the future, or you just like working with wood and building things with others - participating in a yurt raising workshop is the best way to learn about Taper-Wall Yurts. No prior experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn. We prioritize the use of hand tools where it makes sense but do selectively use power tools during most (but not all) yurt workshops.
